The National Office of the AMTA has taken action to increase student membership by training volunteer Student Recruitment Designees (SRD’s) in many of the chapters. A volunteer SRD is someone who has an interest in visiting massage therapy schools to share their experiences as a professional and a member of the AMTA. I was chosen to attend a special training which helped to create a manual as a resource for future SRD’s. As a volunteer SRD in the VA Chapter it is my goal to build a team of volunteers including members from each unit.

Any AMTA member with a relationship to a massage therapy school or with great public speaking skills would be an asset to the team. By becoming an SRD you can use your experiences to help students get a solid start in their career. You will have the opportunity to build positive relationships with schools and students as well as offer support and information about our units and chapter events. By working together we can help strengthen our entire profession. Any members interested in becoming an SRD are encouraged to attend the seven oaks retreat where there will be time to discuss the manual and information about the schools requesting visits.
