The delegates work with the State members to create recommendations or positions statements to present to the HOD. Recommendations are proposed additions or changes to the AMTA policy or bi-laws. Position Statements are proposed additions or changes to AMTA’s opinion on a subject or issue within the massage therapy industry. Delegates then gather member opinions in their state concerning the recommendations or position statement and use the feedback to vote at the National Convention. So please use the links below to review each Recommendation and Position and send your comments to a Delegate listed above.

Dear Delegates and Alternates,

You may comment on these proposals through your chapter website or at a chapter meeting, or you may go online and make comments should you wish to do so, just click the link at the bottom of the proposal. This feedback will be provided to delegates before the House of Delegates meets on Thursday, September 23, 2010 in Minneapolis, MN.
Should you have additional questions, you may contact the author of the positions statement proposals or your representative on the House of Delegates Operational Committee, me or Gail Friedman at the National Office.

The National Office of the AMTA has taken action to increase student membership by training volunteer Student Recruitment Designees (SRD’s) in many of the chapters. A volunteer SRD is someone who has an interest in visiting massage therapy schools to share their experiences as a professional and a member of the AMTA. I was chosen to attend a special training which helped to create a manual as a resource for future SRD’s. As a volunteer SRD in the VA Chapter it is my goal to build a team of volunteers including members from each unit.
Any AMTA member with a relationship to a massage therapy school or with great public speaking skills would be an asset to the team. By becoming an SRD you can use your experiences to help students get a solid start in their career. You will have the opportunity to build positive relationships with schools and students as well as offer support and information about our units and chapter events. By working together we can help strengthen our entire profession. Any members interested in becoming an SRD are encouraged to attend the seven oaks retreat where there will be time to discuss the manual and information about the schools requesting visits.

Please contact me with any questions regarding student recruitment in your area.

Dear Student Recruitment Designees,
I am happy to announce the Student Recruitment Center is now available. This section of the website will be very useful in helping you prepare to recruit new students to AMTA in your state.

The Student Recruitment Center has many great resources for you to use. Everything from sample phone scripts and presentation outlines to a benefits list and presenter evaluations are available. The Student Recruitment Center also includes video tips from the first ever Student Recruitment Designee Training held last year at the National Office during the week of CVOP.
You can also find on this page the all important SRD Manual in pdf format ready for download, as well as, a Discussion Forum where you can share ideas with other SRDs across the country. And, if there are any questions that you have that are not answered in the center, there is a link to email me directly.
The Student Recruitment Center can be found on the AMTA website through the Chapter Center. Look for the link labeled Student Recruitment Center. Here is a direct link to the page so that you may take a look at it right now: Student Recruitment Center
If you have any questions regarding the site or would like to offer any suggestions to make it more user friendly, please do not hesitate to contact me either via phone 877.905.2700 x131 or email: mmitchell@amtamassage.org. I look forward to hearing from you.
