Kimball Egge speaks on Essential Oils. Is frequency important to our bodies, which are electrical? Absolutely. Not only is our body electrical but everything around us has an electrical frequency. Essential Oils have a frequency from 52 to 320 Hertz. Essential oils have a coherent, harmonic DC frequency, so they’re harmonious with the electrical field of the human body. They increase both your energy and the client’s energy, and they enhance your efforts with chakras and auric fields. Kimball will show us how to incorporate the spiritual qualities of essential oils when doing energy work and massage with our clients. Kimball leads workshops in Clinical Aromatherapy and has a private massage practice.
March 10, 2008
Miriam Brancato will be discussing different types of Sports Massage, who may benefit from it, when is it used, the importance of stretching, and a demonstration of some techniques. Miriam Brancato has studied many massage modalities, and has a degree in Integrative Wellness and Fitness from James Madison University. She teaches sports massage, lectures on wellness and fitness, and has a private practice.

John Caldwell presents Gua Sha, a 3000 year old technique from China, where it is widely practiced today. Its purpose is to extract stagnant blood from the tissues thus restoring circulation, and decreasing pain and stiffness. To do this, the practitioner rubs over the lubricated skin with a tool that has a blunt rounded edge. The stagnant blood rises to just under the skin surface where it can be seen. It is common to achieve 50-75% reduction of symptoms in a few minutes of treatment. Using a tool in this way also provides a form of deep friction massage which is not gua sha, strictly speaking, but is very beneficial, quick, and easy on the therapist. For ease of treatment, effectiveness, universality, portability and low cost there is nothing in common use today that approaches gua sha. John Caldwell has been practicing gua sha since 1999. He teaches massage therapy and Taiji , and has a private massage practice in Forest.
